Noise Pop 2020 Music & Art Festival | SF

The Noise Pop Festival is San Francisco’s (and Funcheap’s) favorite indie music and art festival.

Now in its 28th year, Noise Pop has brought early exposure to many emerging artists in the Bay Area and beyond, many of whom have gone on to widespread acclaim like Raphael Saadiq, Benjamin Gibbard, Maya Jane Coles, Best Coast, Duster, Washed Out and Helado Negro.

Over the course of a week, from Monday, February 24 to Sunday, March 1, 2020 transforms the Bay Area into a festival ground with multiple events taking place across the city each night.

Dntel & Ladytron | Noise Pop 2020 Music & Art Festival | SF

Come hear an awesome lineup of musicians featuring UK electronic icons Ladytron, and Jimmy Tamborello (Postal Service, Dntel) at The NWBLK in SoMa.

Free, but an RSVP is required and entry is not guaranteed. Guaranteed entry tickets are $10.

Ladytron – The narrative of the past decade of electronic music would not be complete without a chapter on Ladytron. Consistently placing songcraft and innovation over any confining aesthetic, the foursome of Daniel Hunt, Reuben Wu, Helen Marnie and Mira Aroyo fashioned four albums of deliriously buzzing, whip-smart electro-pop that have kept them ahead of the curve, apart from the fads and in a league of their own.

Jimmy Tamborello was a guitarist in the emocore group Strictly Ballroom and also a member of techno-poppers Figurine. In addition, he did time in the southern California groups Further and the Tyde. Tamborello originally started working as Dntel in 1994. The melancholy, often haunting, and electronica-heavy effort Life Is Full of Possibilities arrived in 2002 on Plug Research Records. It featured contributions from Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie), among others. Tamborello moved to Sub Pop, also home of his other very successful project, the Postal Service.

Insightful – Opening the night is experimental electronic music producer Matthew Suggett who creates under the name Insightful. This 24 year old California native’s sound pallet can go from sexy to weird, real fast. His melodies weave with deep bass lines in turn, complement his groovy percussion.
