Event Details

Legend has it somewhere deep in the south there is a swamp that glows neon green.

Back in WW2 a paratrooper found a small box (no bigger than an orange) on his plane and became obsessed with its contents. Upon his discharge, he smuggled the box from the plane and stowed it away in his sack. When he finally was able to open the box and saw what was inside, he got nervous and ditched it in a local swamp.

After years of weathering, the box eventually cracked and the contents, which we now know was a glowing heap of radium, slowly seeped out and infected everything the swamp touched. Alligators became 2 headed, fish with 3 eyes appeared, and the swamp birds’ massive wingspans glowed neon in the mossy trees.

People who lived along the swamp refused to move, they fished and ate the creatures in the swamp. They kept amongst themselves and lived in isolation. Radioactive Swamp is an homage to the legend which may or may not have been started right here.
