Essential advice for surviving the zombie plague. come in costume to hear Bodhipaksa, author of Living Like A River, offer meditation teachings designed to empower you to save yourself from the zombie apocalypse.
“The zombies,” Bodhipaksa clarifies, “are you and I. The Dhammapada reminds us that the unmindful are like the living dead. Unlike the classic Hollywood take on zombies, the choice we face is whether to remain a zombie or whether to wake up and become fully human. Meditation is one powerful tool for regaining our full humanity. It helps us to develop ‘mindfulness,’ or the ability to step back from our mental habits and liberate ourselves from the inner zombie.
By practicing mindfulness we learn to recognize when we’re acting like the living dead, and this gives us a chance to “come to life” and avoid the stress and depression that the undead life brings.”
