Event Details

Presenting the new, open-air marketplace for local arts and culture. The San Francisco Arts Market debuts on Thursday, August 19, in UN Plaza, and will run every Thursday thereafter from noon to 8:00 p.m. throughout this summer & fall.

Visit 1182 Market St between Grove and 8th for diverse arts, crafts and culture, including painting, photography, mixed media, literature, music, fashion, jewelry, toys, children’s goods, creative home and garden wares, and much more.

GET INVOLVED
Local artists, artisans, fashionistas, musicians, publishers, crafts- and culture-makers, food-cart operators and more are all welcome to apply for a tent space on our website.

• All exhibitors must be selling work that has been handmade by local Bay Area artists. The goal of the Arts Market is to help local arts and culture entrepreneurs as well as revitalize the arts community and cutural economy around San Francisco’s Civic Center region.

1) Vendor Discounts, Nonprofits Free thru Sept. 9!

2) New Tents, Sunny Weather
We at Independent Arts & Media have been taking notes and adapting our plans to the needs of the vendors and the realities of the UN Plaza environment. Here’s how we’re working to make the Market better for you:

  • We have STURDY NEW TENTS that are built to handle the winds of Civic Center and UN Plaza.
  • Following a summer of heavy fog, we’re looking at a bright and sunny day tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 2
  • Security for the Market has been improved, for the benefit of customers and vendors alike.

3) Also New: Gallery Tent, Live Music

  • This week (September 2, 2010) the Market will also feature a Gallery Tent for the exhibition of works by multiple artists.
  • Live music comes to the Market at Noon and 4:00 p.m., featuring the swingin’ jazz vocals of Melissa Dinwiddie, and the twin-girl folkadelic harmonies of Foxtail Brigade. This follows last week’s performance by La Mission’s own Classical Revolution.
