San Francisco Food Waste Week (May 16-22)

Imperfect Foods will host the first-ever San Francisco Food Waste Week, curating panel discussions, workshops, and interactive elements, like a larger-than-life Imperfect Foods box, all designed to build momentum behind reducing food waste, the #1 way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. From May 16 to 22, Imperfect Foods will pop up at Spark Social in Mission Bay and invite the local community to learn how every bite into a misshapen apple, broken pretzel, or tiny quiche is a delicious way to support farmers and the environment. Attendees will be eligible to win free Imperfect Foods groceries and smoothies and can enjoy fresh “imperfect” produce onsite at Spark Social.

Additionally, Imperfect Foods will team up with area restaurants and food trucks in an effort to put 1,000 lbs of imperfect food to good use in just one week. Participating restaurants will create special waste-fighting dishes by incorporating recovered produce or grocery items from Imperfect Foods. For every meal sold at participating restaurants, Imperfect Foods will make a donation of $5 to support the crucial work that Food Shift is doing to support the food-insecure population of the Bay Area.

San Francisco is the second stop in Imperfect Foods’ West Coast Food Waste Week tour, following events in LA in March and with upcoming stops in Portland and Seattle later this year.
