San Francisco “Skate Week” 2024: Roller Skater’s Showcase (Golden Gate Park)

SKATE WEEK SAN FRANCISCO is a 6 day celebration of roller skating and inline skating in the greatest city in the world – San Francisco!!! This event celebrates 45 years since the birth of the Golden Gate Park Skate Patrol which was formed to keep roller skating from being banned in Golden Gate Park. We are inviting skaters from far and wide to come to San Francisco and experience our fun, exciting and unique skating culture that sets the trends that others around the world are following today. Indoors and outdoors, inline and quad. Disco, hip hop and even goth. One nation under a groove. That’s the San Francisco way. Some of the events will be held at the Church of 8 Wheels Roller Disco, some will be in Golden Gate Park. We even have a roller rink at the Golden Gate Bridge. We will showcase our skills at 6th Ave. Skatin’ Place and on the new JFK Promenade. We even want to encourage you to gain the knowledge and experience to do the same where you live!!! 6^th Ave. Skatin’ Place Golden Gate Park
This area has been the center of skating in Golden Gate Park since 1986. Over the years it has been repaved, enlarged and recently redesigned to the magnificent public outdoor roller skating facility you see today.  It is a shining example of what should be in every city for roller skaters. We will have open skating here on Saturday all day and the Skaters Showcase here on Sunday.

The San Francisco Skaters Showcase – SKATE WEEK 2024
Here we move the action to 6^th Ave. Skatin’ Place in Golden Gate Park for the San Francisco Skaters’ Showcase. Skaters will perform their routines in Singles, Couples and Groups. It is not a competition, but an exhibition of the talent skaters will share with the public. This will begin at 2:00 P.M. and end at 4:00 P.M. At 3:00 P.M., we will present Mayor London Breed and SF Rec and Parks General Manager Phil Ginsburg with their World Champion Belts as they are truly Champions of San Francisco, Golden Gate Park and JFK Promenade. Afterwards will do what we do every Sunday in Golden Gate Park. Skate and have a funky good time.
