San Francisco landmarks will glow green at sunset on May 21st in support of park workers on the front line around the world.
City Hall, SFO, Coit Tower, Salesforce Tower and the Conservatory of Flowers will join the Empire State Building and other New York monuments as part of #GoingGreenforParkies, a tribute to essential workers who continue to maintain parks in support of the mental and physical health of visitors during the COVID-19 emergency.
Update (3:21pm 5/21) – SFO is now joining in and will be lighting green tonight
Now more than ever, local parks are crucial to our health and quality of life. In San Francisco, green spaces and trails have provided a respite during the shelter in place order, allowing people to safely exercise, enjoy fresh air and reap the mental health benefits of time in nature.
Celebrate park workers around the globe today by #GoingGreenforParkies to support all that they do! Check out what some of the work our staff have been doing during this pandemic here: https://t.co/vmb2MWEzUQ #dearsf

#GoingGreenforParkies acknowledges the gardeners, custodians, rangers, and maintenance staff who are ensuring our wellbeing by keeping San Francisco’s parks open, clean, and beautiful.
During the COVID-19 response, the men and women of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department have not only cared for our parks and open spaces, but provided emergency care for the children of healthcare workers, served as part of the City of San Francisco’s emergency operations center, helped with food distribution and more.
