SF Maritime Museum Film Premiere: A Palace for the People

The San Francisco Maritime National Park Association is proud to present to the public, for the first time, a short documentary film about San Francisco’s iconic Aquatic Park Bathhouse building and its treasure trove of WPA murals completed during the Great Depression. The film screening will also include an exclusive question and answer interview with director John Rogers.

The celebrated Bay Area filmmaker, John Rogers, brings to life the Aquatic Bathhouse though extensive new footage of the restored artworks and architecture, interviews with historians, oral histories, archival photography and more.

Mr. Rogers has been director of photography for three documentaries made by Emmy award winning producer Paul Buckhorst —one on the architecture of Bernard Maybeck, another on his masterpiece, the Berkeley Christian Science Church, and the third on arts and crafts architecture in Northern California.

We know you will enjoy watching his latest film, “A Palace for the People, The Art and Artistry of the Aquatic Park Building,” that premieres on Saturday March 13th at 11AM with a behind-the-scenes interview.

The premier is open and free to the public (donations appreciated!) due to the generosity of the event’s sponsors.
