The second ever SF Stair Challenge, presented by Walk San Francisco, will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024. The secret 2024 route, crafted by our mastermind team of WalkLab volunteers, is a loop through the neighborhoods of Diamond Heights and Noe Valley with a dip into Glen Canyon Park. The total length is approximately five miles with roughly 2,000 stair steps, and takes 1.5 – 2.5 hours to complete depending.

This supported walk will have timed releases onto the route from 7:30AM – 10:00AM on Saturday, May 6. Participants will enjoy snacks and encouragement along the way, plus enjoy a mini-celebration at the end and a special keepsake for completing the second-ever SF Stair Challenge.

Run or race the route or hike it at a leisurely pace. Completing the route will take 1.5-2.5 hours depending. Do it solo or with friends and family. Walk it your way! But just don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind experience, which will quickly sell out.

The SF Stair Challenge starts and ends at George Christopher Playground in Noe Valley and Diamond Heights (5210 Diamond Heights Blvd).

This event will be a blast, plus all proceeds support Walk SF, a small nonprofit dedicated to making San Francisco the safest, most pedestrian-friendly city in the United States.

Tickets

This supported walk will have timed releases onto the route during 30-minute windows from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM. Start time window options are available for selection during the ticket purchase process.

  • An exclusive printed turn-by-turn map of the secret route
  • Drinks and snacks along the route to keep hydrated and fueled
  • A mini-celebration at the finish line

Single and multiple tickets available. We encourage you to team up with friends and colleagues to make it the social event of the season!

Please note that the route includes uneven paths, dirt trails, steep hills and, of course, stairway climbs, as well as street terrain. Participants must be in good health, without any mobility limitations, and able to walk for several hours at a steady pace.
