This year’s Dia de Los Muertos event is dedicated to all women, children, trans, nonbinary, LGBTQ, bipoc folks who have lost their lives to violence. This is our kick-off to creating healing spaces in our community for all those who have survived sexual assault and other acts of violence. Please respect our cultural traditions. Día de Muertos is a day where we honor our dead, we ask you to not come under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
We invite you to come to join us and participate in our healing ceremony on November 2nd at Calle 24th and Capp street, 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm. We ask you to please come with an open heart and cooperative spirit. If you are not part of our community you are more than welcome to participate but please respect our cultural traditions. Día de Muertos is a day where we honor our dead, we ask you to not come under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
At Calle 24 we know that as a community we can create accountability processes, healing spaces, restorative justice processes and roads to recovery for all of our community members.
Our community has experienced extreme pain and loss due to unnecessary violence inflicted upon QTPOC, womxn, and children in our community. We are calling our community to come together to collectively heal and create awareness of how we can stop domestic violence, sexual assaults, and brutal aggressions against QTPOC, women, and children through our Day of the Dead cultural traditions and artistic expression.
Death due to violence is preventable. We can stop violence together by engaging in creating change that creates a safe space and eliminates unnecessary brutality against QTPOC, womxn and children. Join us in generating support for change, sharing resources and healing through culture and art.
