See SF’s Epic Model Yacht Regatta: Opening Day on the Lake 2023 (Golden Gate Park)

The San Francisco Model Yacht Club will host its opening day regatta, marking the first day of the model boating season at Spreckels Lake in Golden Gate Park. Spreckels Lake and the San Francisco Model Yacht Club are special parts of the city’s long and colorful maritime history.  Established in 1898, the club is believed to be the oldest such organization in the United States.

The regatta will include the Ragtop/Stinkpot Relay Regatta, a friendly relay competition that cleverly includes skippers and boats from the Power Squadron, R/C Sail Squadron, and Freesail Squadron. The club arranges and conducts model sailing and power boating events on Spreckels Lake at local, national, and international levels.
