Join us for the epic Festival of Chariots 2024! An ancient spiritual festival of India that made its way to the West in 1967’s Haight Ashbury – now celebrated every year in Golden Gate Park. This spectacular event typically includes a parade, live music, free food, vendors, crafts, book stalls, exhibitions, and face paintings.
Welcome to the 58th annual Festival of Chariots. His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, organized the first Jagannātha Ratha-yātrā festival in 1967 in San Francisco.
Jagannātha means ‘Lord of the Universe’. It is mentioned in the vedic literatures, rathe ca vamanam drstva punar janma na vidyate, “Simply by seeing the Lord on the chariot, one makes advancement for stopping the repetition of birth and death.”
Please join us in this wonderful spiritual festival of chariots and make your existence pure and sublime. You get to pull chariots, take part in a free feast, tour through exhibits, watch cultural performances, and make new friends.
Wonderful opportunity to expose children to the Vedic culture, and get Lord Jagannātha’s blessings. They can watch exhibits explaining science of reincarnation, Bhagavad-Gita, dramas depicting pastimes of Lord Krishna, dances, and devotional songs and music.
The parade starts at 11am and makes its way down to Robin Williams Meadows by noon.
This events is free for all. Please invite friends and family for a day of celebration in San Francisco and a yummy lunch and parade.
