Celebrate the first ever SOMA Pilipinas Pride: MAKIBEKI, a Filipino American History Month event centering queer and trans Filipinx joy and activism. The free day at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts features a unity rally with guest speakers, a procession, a mini pageant and performances, a resource fair, and complimentary admission to the MAKIBAKA: A Living Legacy exhibit. Advance RSVP is recommended for meal tickets.

_Our joy is protest. Our presence is power. This Filipino American History Month, we make history with the first ever SOMA Pilipinas Pride: MAKIBEKI, happening this Sunday, October 12, 12–5PM at @ybca. Rooted in makibaka (to struggle, to defy), makibeki reclaims space for queer and trans Filipinxs to gather, celebrate, and resist through love, visibility, and creativity. 💛 What to Expect: • Unity Rally at Jessie Square featuring special guests Councilwoman Juslyn Manalo and Directress Honey Mahogany • Short Procession from Jessie Square → Yerba Buena Lane → Market St. → 3rd St. → Yerba Buena Center for the Arts • Mini Pageant + Program hosted by Ehra Amaya, with performances by Drag Race Philippines’ Deedee Marie Holliday and John Fedellaga, DJ Guerrilla Pump, Lucas Tecson, and Queer As Fuck • Resource Fair with SF Community Health Center, UCSF, GAPA, SOMCAN, and Malaya SF • Free Admission to @ybca’s MAKIBAKA: A Living Legacy Exhibit ✊🏽 Sign up to join as a contingent, volunteer, or just come through and celebrate queer joy and Filipino pride.
