Our Family Coalition/Lesbian Game Changers

The evening will feature three remarkable trailblazing Queer women—Kate Kendell, Olga Talamante, and Crystal Jang—who have united their diverse communities to foster Queer culture and ensure its survival. Their efforts illustrate overcoming the challenges that intersectional identities have and the importance of community building in navigating through these obstacles.

This exciting event benefits Lesbian Game Changers and Our Family Coalition. Lesbian Game Changers empowers and validates students by advancing equity, visibility, and inclusion. They create a safer campus environment by providing educational materials that teach LGBTQ+ inclusive history. Our Family Coalition advances equity for the full and expanding spectrum of LGBTQ+ families and children through support, education, and advocacy.

Since the passing of the FAIR Education Act in 2011 California schools have made some steps towards being inclusive to our Queer and Trans identified students, but these steps don’t go far enough in supporting and affirming our school children. This is why both Lesbian Game Changers and Our Family Coalition’s continue our joint commitment to education, we will also share updates about our work integrating Queer culture into school curriculums, highlighting how educators can create inclusive spaces for all students.

Afterparty: Join us for a cash bar afterparty at Mother, the dyke-of-center lesbian bar located just across the street from Manny’s.

Special Offerings:

The first 50 attendees will receive a copy of the book Game Changers; Lesbians You Should Know About, a colorful, large-format graphic-novel style history book that belongs in every Queer family’s library.
