Best known for their “three axe attack” triple guitar sound and songs of Southern despair, the Drive-By Truckers are stylistically as comfortable with old-time country as they are with R&B and rock and roll. Far more than on any of the Drive-By Truckers’ previous albums, Go-Go Boots (out now on ATO Records) rises like smoke from the old Muscle Shoals country-and-soul sound.
