Event Details

The Spice of Life Festival is a day in celebration of North Berkeley’s “Gourmet Ghetto.” On Vine Street, take in (and taste) cooking demos by local chefs at the Culinary Stage hosted by the Kitchen on Fire Cooking School and taste wines by Vintage Berkeley.

Enjoy street food and neighborhood restaurant fare, make art with the Art is Moving project, listen to storytellers, and peruse a selection of eco-conscious and handcrafted arts, jewelry and clothing.

Listen to local musicians, including the Berkeley High Jazz Band, Maya Kronfeld Trio, The Maharachis, and Misisipi Mike (2011 Bay Guardian Reader’s Choice Singer-Songwriter of the Year) and sample micro-brews from Sierra Nevada, Mendocino and Bison in the Saul’s Deli hosted beer garden.

Gourmet Ghetto shops, eateries and galleries, will host musicians and artist demos, and offer tastings and tours for the day.

Parking available at Berkeley Arts Magnet School (Milvia and Lincoln) to benefit BAM PTA. Free bike valet parking provided by the East Bay Bicycle Coalition.
