The Redwood Room, a San Francisco institution famous for its dramatic paneling carved from a single redwood tree, is pleased to partner with Uncle Val’s handcrafted gin for “Uncle Val’s Gin Martini Flight Night,” a special one-night event featuring specially curated mini martini cocktails to be sipped in a stylish, cozy atmosphere complete with live local music. The Uncle Val’s martini cocktails are developed by Michelin-starred Executive Chef Daniel Corey who oversees the Food & Beverage program at the Redwood Room and Fredericks restaurant at The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel. The following martinis are created by Chef Corey to complement the fresh herbs Uncle Val grew in his garden in Italy, which inspired all four of the aromatic gins named in his honor. Uncle Val’s Martini Flight is as follows and are priced at $25/flight:
- Classic Martini – Uncle Val’s Botanical Gin, Dry Vermouth, Pimento Stuffed Olive
- Lemon Drop – Uncle Val’s “Zested” Gin, Cointreau, Simple Syrup, Lemon Juice, Sugar Rim, Lemon Twist
- Rose Petal Martini – Uncle Val’s “Restorative” Gin, Rose Petal Syrup, Dry Vermouth, Lemon Bitters, Champagne Float
- Espresso Martini – Uncle Val’s “Peppered” Gin, Mr. Black, Ancho Reyes Chile Ancho Liqueur, Cold Brew
Uncle Val’s founder, August Sebastiani, will be in attendance to discuss how he developed the entire Uncle Val’s line as an homage to his late uncle, Valerio Cecchetti, a physician with an affinity for gardening in his quaint Italian town outside Lucca, Italy. This date in 2022 would have marked his 100th birthday. The herbs Uncle Val grew were not only perfectly suited for the local cuisine, but also happen to make exceptionally unique and smoothly delicious gin. Uncle Val’s is part of the 3 Badge Corporation portfolio, a négociant representing an innovative portfolio of terroir-driven wines and craft spirits from around the globe. Headquartered out of a historic, refurbished fire station in Sonoma, California, 3 Badge is led by fourth-generation vintner August Sebastiani.
Inspired by bitters bottles from the 18th and 19th centuries, Uncle Val’s bottles are made in Italy with strong, tapered shoulders and a dark green, antique hue. The design is reminiscent of old-world spirits labels, featuring an ornate cursive font, a tastefully understated color palette and a Roman coin styled illustration of Uncle Val. Made in small batches, each bottle is numbered and has one of three bottom labels featuring some of Uncle Val’s more notable sayings like, “A closed mouth catches no flies.”
Internationally renowned for its Art Deco design, stunning redwood paneling and signature atmosphere, the Redwood Room returns with an impressive lineup of entertainment, including live jazz with the Patrick Wolff Quartet, piano bar performances with Josh Gelfand and a rotating list of popular DJs throughout each month. The Redwood Room offers a new menu featuring dishes using fresh ingredients sourced from the Bay Area such as Brussels Sprouts with Spicy Peanut Sauce, Crispy Shallot and Pickled Fresno Chili and Fried Chicken Sandwich with Smoky Honey Mustard, Dill Pickle on an Onion Poppy Seed Roll.
