Event Details

Sandra Lee Gallery is proud to once again showcase the work of Korean and Bay Area artist, Jung San. Jung San is known for his meticulous and complex works, which he infuses with his Buddhist ideas.

His work often contains unconventional materials, such as razorblades, nail polish, and matchboxes. These innovative pieces leave viewers in both deep contemplation and wonder.

This May, Jung San returns with the second part of his ‘Beyond Words Series,’ which illustrates his development as an artist. For this show, Jung San wrote countless stories in calligraphy on handmade paper, which were then folded and combined to form several pieces of art. For Jung San, the ‘Beyond Words Series’ reflect his belief that even when words are obscured or silenced, they still have meaning. Jung San’s new works convey these ideas through their freeform exuberance, which contrasts well with the clean lines that defined Part 1 of the ‘Beyond Words Series.’

Please join us May 7th from 5:30-7:30 pm at the show opening to celebrate the return of this phenomenal artist.

Exhibition will run from May 7 to 30, 2015.
