Confirmed date for 2010! Muni’s top bell ringing crewmen compete in the 48th Annual Cable Car Bell Ringing Contest on September 28, 2010. The competition begins at noon in Union Square.

There will be two competitions – one amateur featuring local media & members of the community, and the main competition featuring cable car gripmen and conductors battling it out for the Grand Prize Bell of 2010.

If previous contests are any guide, expect demonstrations from retired former winners in addition to this years competition. Comedienne Debi Durst handling mistress of ceremony duties.
