2019 Architecture & the City Festival | SF

The 16th annual month-long celebration features behind the scenes and walking tours, films, exhibitions, lectures and more that address varying aspects of the design and planning process.

This years festival theme, “We the City”, aims to explore how cultural diversity and connectivity inspire and inform the built environment. From the Dogpatch to the Outer Sunset — San Francisco is a unique, diverse, and multi-generational mosaic.

The “downsizing of Detroit” means many things, including the loss and destruction of individual homes, the disintegration of civic and cultural “homes,” and the decline of one of the great American cities. In this documentary, the filmmakers chronicle the struggle of citizens to keep Detroit their home.

Free, but an RSVP is required.

Kristy Wang, Community Planning Policy Director, SPUR and Ron Blatman, producer, Saving the City will be featured in a talk after the screening.

The evening will begin with a short clip: Saving The City (in production) 5 min. Produced by San Francisco filmmaker Ron Blatman.
