Calling all Chocolate Lovers…just in time for Valentine’s Day.
You’re invited to learn the story of chocolate and how you can protect the planet, support the efforts of cocoa farmers to build a bright future for their children, and help bring an end to abusive child labor in the cocoa fields…just by taking a few simple steps, like eating Fair Trade chocolate.
You’ll also learn how you can travel to the cocoa fields this summer…a must-do experience for every true chocolate lover. There’ll be Fair Trade chocolate to sample, and three varieties of Alter Eco dark chocolate bars (Velvet, Almond and Quinoa) available for purchase.
Location: Green Zebra Environmental Action Center at Crocker Galleria; 50 Post Street, Suite #9 (ground floor across from Tully’s Coffee)
Please note that the website says the start time is 11:30am, but the press release we received today says start time is noon
Speaker: Adrienne Fitch-Fraenkel, Fair Trade Cocoa Campaigner at Global Exchange
Adrienne has worked for diverse human rights and environmental advocacy organizations, as well as leaders in the field of green business such as Co-op America and Calvert Group. Her area of expertise is the impact of commodities, both extractive and agricultural, on local communities, particularly indigenous people.
