Event Details

Celebrate Kwanzaa with a free dinner and a screening and discussion of the film Sankofa in downtown Oakland on Saturday, December 29, 2012.

There will also be a marketplace setup from 9:30 am-6 pm.

In downtown Oakland, for a week, the streets at 14th and Franklin will be taken over with visual arts, healing arts, sacred arts, fashion arts, culinary arts all handmade in Oakland by artisans who live and breath the principles of Kwanzaa 365 days of the year.

Kwanzaa Principles Reflection:

  • Each day of Kwanzaa, join us at 9:30 am for a public community circle where we will reflect upon the principle of the day.
  • At 6 pm, we will close the day with a circle to reflect on the principle again.
