As Bayview Hunters Point’s longest-running annual event, the Black Cuisine Festival, was created to highlight culinary talents passed through generations. Black Cuisine shares delectable food rooted in African American tradition bringing people together for a little taste of soul.

FREE, but bring along some cash for food purchases
Enjoy live music, vendor booths, and a variety of food venues featuring down home soul food prepared the way Grandma used to make including: fried chicken, catfish, oxtails, ribs, links, black-eyed peas, red beans & rice, greens, yams, mac & cheese, cornbread, sweet potato pie, peach cobbler, pound cake and other soulful delights.
Folks who want to share their culinary talents are invited to enter the annual Soul Food Cooking Contest. Winners will receive cash prizes and ribbons. Last year’s festival drew more than 2,000 attendees and they anticipate that number increasing this year.
