Event Details

Val Brelinski’s strange and wonderful debut, The Girl Who Slept with God, tells the story of Grace, 17, who returns from a service mission in Mexico believing that she has been impregnated by God.

Her deeply Evangelical Christian family moves Grace and her younger sister to an isolated home at the edge of town. Once on her own, Grace has to learn to deal with life the way people all do: the hard way.

Meet Val, celebrate the paperback release of this brave and moving novel, and join them for a new iteration of an old favorite event.

Bring a book about an exile. Bring a book you love that loosely fits the theme (or doesn’t! no pressure), they’ll sit you in small groups, you’ll chat about books, and at the end, they have a big, rowdy, white elephant swap.

Tickets include an open bar for 21+.
