Casa de Cultura in Berkeley once again throws a day-long party and ritual celebrating Brazilian Independence Day with an annual lavagem (blessing) and procession for world peace, live Brazilian music and DJs, dancing, food, drinks, and lots of folks dressed in white.

Sunday, September 3, 2017 | 10 am to 7 pm
Casa de Cultura, 1901 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley
FREE, but donations are appreciated.

Come dressed in traditional white for this party.

Entertainment typically includes live Brazilian samba bands, a traditional procession, DJs, capoeirafree dance classes, as well as activities for kids. Please note, the full 2017 festival program and schedule has not yet been posted, but here’s what’s been released so far on their Facebook event page:

10-11 am: FREE Dance Classes
11 am-7 pm: Music & Dance Performances
2 pm: Lavagem Procession
