Your Halloween costume could have a much better backstory this year.

San Francisco Opera is opening its costume collection for a two-day sale in Burlingame, offering a rare chance to take home actual theatrical costumes from decades of productions at the War Memorial Opera House.

Browse Victorian gowns, Renaissance doublets, embroidered military uniforms, dramatic capes, 1920s fashions and fantasy creations. These pieces were made by skilled theatrical artisans, with the detail and craftsmanship to turn a Halloween entrance into a full production. Stage props and opera merchandise will also be available.

Pieces start at just $5 (but can go up to $525)

Book early for the best selection. Early admission is going quickly: as of October 2, Saturday’s 9:30 am through 11:30 am slots already show no availability. The Opera says no inventory will be held back, so earlier shoppers get first pick.
