October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States (other than skin cancers). It is estimated that 231,840 American women will be diagnosed with the disease in 2015. Come increase your awareness and learn “Breast Cancer Facts That Everyone Should Know” from Erika Bell, PhD. Topics addressed will include:

• Breast cancer risk factors,
• Screening recommendations,
• Signs and symptoms,
• Understanding a breast cancer diagnosis,
• Treatment options

Erika Bell is the Manger of Medical Information services at Bay Area Cancer Connections in Palo Alto, CA. She holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, San Francisco. The mission of Bay Area Cancer Connections (BCC) is to support people touched by breast and ovarian cancer by providing comprehensive, personalized services in an atmosphere of warmth and compassion. All of BCC’s services are provided free of charge.
