Carve San Francisco: Sandcastle Building Contest | Presidio

Come out to see some outrageous sand art at Carve San Francisco, NoCal’s inaugural international sand sculpting competition and ode to sand, surf and beach culture on October 15-20, 2013.

Watch about a dozen teams from around the world to sculpt 225 tons of sand into astounding and intricate works of art over five days.

In addition to watching the sculpting, they’ve set up a “beach” bar in the parking lot, there’s free smart car test drives, free samples from sponsors like Longboard Winery, Findandia Vodka, Kona Brewing, and Dole, rafffles, free yoga classes, surf films, live surf art, Off the Grid food trucks and more.

Carve Party Schedule | Friday, October 18, 2013

  • 7 am to 6 pm: Carvers Sculpt
  • 3 pm to 6 pm: The Official Party Starts – Sponsor Tents, Carve Bars and Food Trucks open
    Free samples and test drives from Smart Car, Finlandia Vodka, Kona Brewing, Dole, Longboard Wines and others.
  • 6:15 pm: Surf Movie at Sports Basement: North of the Sun
    Two friends discover the perfect beach at a remote Norwegian shore just above the Arctic Circle and decide to spend the winter here – surfing. Building a hut from driftwood and living on expired food only, the young men turn sustainable living into their own Robinson-adventure, keeping their calm even in the face of personal danger.
