50 years ago, San Francisco rocked the world with art, fashion, and music during the Summer of Love. Celebrate 1967 with a day full of art-making, performances, DJs, social activism, and new artist work.

The Summer of Love Experience: Art, Fashion, and Rock & Roll will be an exhilarating exhibition of iconic rock posters, photographs, interactive music and light shows, costumes and textiles, ephemera, and avant-garde films.

FREE (Gallery admission is not included.)

Please note that the free and open-to-the public activities listed below take place either in front of the museum or in the museum’s public spaces. Admission to the museums’ galleries and special exhibitions will not be free and requires a paid ticket.

This event commemorates an “only in San Francisco” social and aesthetic movement, and will remind museum visitors that in a time of international upheaval, the city played a vital role in changing society and amplifying the pulse of the nation.
