Save the Bay Lights

The Bay Bridge needs help keeping its lights on.

Last year, artist Leo Villareal and organizers from The Bay Light Project envisioned and installed 25,000 lightbulbs on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and created the world’s largest light show.

The lights are energy-efficient and costs a meager $30 a day to operate. The show is set to end on March 5th, 2015 but with your help, you can have it lighting up the San Francisco Bay for the next decade.

Through the support of crowdfunding, you and your friends can help. The organization seeks an initial $1.2 million in funds to install new weather-resistant LED lights, maintain the nightly live webcast, and hold community events through 2026.

That’s enough light to power through all the first kisses and marriage proposals that may occur under the bridge’s illumination.

If you choose to support the light project, your gift will be tax deductible. You’ll get your money back next year and you can totally use those funds to make the first payment for that yoga mat you’ve been eyeing.
