Festival of the Chariots 2012 | Golden Gate ParkThe “Festival of the Chariots,” known throughout India as the “Ratha Yatra” festival, has been performed for thousands of years in Puri, India and today it is celebrated in all major cities through out the world. More then 3,000 people attend each year in San Francisco alone.

An interactive parade, in which people will pull three large Chariots by ropes, will begin on John F. Kennedy Drive and Transverse Drive in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park at 11am. The parade will continue down JFK Dr. and end at 1pm in Sharon Meadow on the corner of JFK Dr. and Stanyan Street.

>> The Sharon Meadow festivities will include a Free Vegetarian Meal, Live Theatre, Music, Ancient Indian Dances, Exhibits, Books and more.
