A rising force on the Bay Area music scene, saxophonist, arranger and composer Teddy Raven can be found playing funk with Kuckaw!, California soul with Midtown Social, instrumental Balkan music with MWE and various jazz hybrids with Jazz Mafia aggregations.

He’s delved particularly deeply into Romani music of the southern Balkans, an extraordinarily rich tradition he studied in Bulgaria supported by a Fulbright Fellowship. Raven presents a seven-piece version of his new chamber/jazz/world music ensemble The Flock, which will be joined by a Bulgarian women’s choir for a portion of the performance. Focusing on improvisation-laced material from an upcoming self-titled debut album, The Flock creates singularly lush and cinematic soundscapes.
