Event Details

Friday Nights at the de Young offers a variety of interdisciplinary arts programs, including live music, poetry, films, dance, tours, talks and more. Season Eight is every Friday night from March 30 – November 23, 2012.

This weekly after-hours art “happening” changes every week, but typically includes a mix of live music, dance performances, film screenings, panel discussions, lectures, artist demonstrations, special performances, hands-on art activities and more. Plus the observation tower is open until 8:15pm.

May 25, 2012 – From a Side Car, to a Cable Car

Live Music by the Akira Tana and the Secret Agent Men featuring Gary Brown on bass and friends.
Wilsey Court. Sets at 6:30–7:15 & 7:45–8:30

Akira Tana and The Secret Agent Men will musically celebrate the works of Arthur Tess (Arthur Tress: San Francisco 1964) and the Mad Men TV series by performing jazz interpretations of songs from the 1960s . Themes from television shows and films will be included such as Secret Agent Man, Alfred Hitchcock Theme, Mission Impossible, Peter Gunn, and Charade. Other material will include songs from the Beatles repertoire. The joint will be rocking and swinging!

Live music by the Sarah Wilson Ensemble, presented in partnership with Stags’ Leap Winery and Z Space
Koret Auditorium, 7:15pm

Tonight’s concert features music written during Wilson’s artist residency at Stags’ Leap Winery with a video projection by David Szlasa.
