Metaphysical Art Show & Live Sound Collage | SoMa

This is an opening reception for a new series of metaphysical works of art—mostly of gouache and embroidered thread on paper—by San Francisco artist Bert Bergen. He completes the evening with a set of his solo sound performance voluminously-titled Abyss of Fathomless Light.

• The Art: Apparitional experiences, “The Journey to the Sky”, and tutelaries are some of the shamanic themes that are weaved into a narrative that is the artist’s own sense of metaphysical horror.
• The Live Sound Collage: Abyss of Fathomless Light is a live sound collage of processed cassette tape-loops with vocals and electronics will providing the atmosphere for a ritualistic performance that carries over the theme of a dark and rapturous otherness.
