National Trails Day 2014: Volunteer Outdoors | Bay AreaCelebrate National Trails Day, the nation’s largest celebration of trails and the outdoors, in the Golden Gate National Parks on June 7, 2014.

The Trails Forever Team and partner organizations, REI and American Hiking Society, will host a series of trail and habitat service projects throughout the parks (Marin, Pacifica, and San Francisco). No experience is necessary.

Bay Area National Trails Day 2014 Projects

Marin, Dias Ridge Register >>
Enjoy great views while helping with fence removal and tread work at Dias Ridge. Be sure to bring your hiking boots to hike up Dias trail to the project.
Time:
 9 am–noon (Registration: 9 am; Lunch: noon–12:30 pm)
Details:
 Volunteers ages 14 and up are welcome. Project work will be moderately strenuous.

San Francisco, Fort Miley Register >>
Help construct the new Veteran’s Trail behind Fort Miley, including one low water crossing.
Time: 9 am–noon (Registration: 9 am; Lunch: noon–12:30 pm)
Details: Volunteers ages 14 and up are welcome. Project work will be moderately strenuous.

San Francisco, Presidio Register >>
Join up for a day of stewardship along Presidio trails, forests, and pathways. Activities will include maintaining trails, tending trees in adjacent reforestation zones, and restoring nearby native habitat.
Time: 9 am–1pm (Registration: 9–9:30 am; Projects: 9:30 am–noon; Lunch: noon–1 pm)
Details: Family-friendly project, volunteers of all ages are welcome.

San Mateo, Mori Point Register >>
Join up for a day of trail maintenance as they uncover the overgrown pollywog path at Mori Point.
Time: 10 am–1 pm (Registration: 10 am; Lunch: 1–1:30 pm)
Details: Family-friendly project, volunteers of all ages are welcome.

San Mateo, Rancho Corral de Tierra Register >>
Learn about this unique site while helping with trail and restoration work.
