Wild Oakland Walks
Wild Oakland is a 100% volunteer organization, from the Guiding Committee to the walk leaders who donate their time because of a shared passion for ecology and education. Their mission is to provide free, fun, relevant, and commitment-free environmental education to busy urbanites.
The walks are geared towards adults and teens, but parents are encouraged to bring their young children.
Want to get more out of your camera and capture beautiful photos of Lake Merritt, the jewel of Oakland? Here is your chance. Bring your camera (point and shoot or SLR) and your desire to learn to this free workshop on February 9, 2013.
Your instructor will be Damon Tighe, a freelance photographer that publishes regularly in Bay Nature and other magazines. The hour long course will go over the basics of composition, camera settings, plant photography and wildlife photography.
An opportunity to have photographs you took on our outing examined with feedback will also be available for those that want it via Flickr. Handouts on camera basics will be distributed.
Meet at noon at the entrance to the Rotary Nature Center at Lake Merritt on the corner of Perkins and Bellevue. You will meet rain or shine. If there is rain, please bring rain gear and plastic bags to cover your gear with.
