Original Famous Twang Sundays is a free, all-ages concert series at Thee Parkside in Potrero Hill.

Come by every Sunday; there’s always a fresh traditional or contemporary live act and a surprise special to purchase from the kitchen.

Sunday, March 29th Original Famous Twang Sundays welcomes Fernando, The Dead Volts, American Dirt, Jack Parker to Thee Parkside.

Luther Russell and Jason Hiller have recently completed mixing Fernando‘s 8th CD “Leave the Radio On” which will feature stellar performances by Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey (REM, Minus 5, Baseball Project). Sean Oldham, Dan Eccles and Paul Brainard (Richmond Fontaine) Scott Mcpherson (Elliott Smith, M.Ward, Beck), Mike Coykendall, Little Sue, Sara Beth Tucek, Danny DeLaMatyr, Ralph Huntley and last but not least…Fernando’s Long time band of Freddy Trujillo, Lewi Longmire and Matt Cadenelli. The record was produced by Fernando with Mike Coykendall and Luther Russell and is expected to be released sometime in 2014.

The Dead Volts are straight forward guitar rock with some twang, amps turned up just a bit too loud in a failed attempt to overtake the crashing drums, a few brews and a bit of the whiskey, 2min songs played at breakneck speed followed by a few old sad songs, that’s what we’re shooting for.

American Dirt was founded a few years back by Dave Wilson and some other folks interested in playing american music rooted in the soil of traditional country mixed with good old rock and roll. After an initial period that saw some band members (and genres) come and go, American Dirt’s current line up and repertoire of original songs was established in the spring of 2012. Since then, the band has been playing extensively in California. In 2012, American Dirt released a self-titled EP through Twang ‘N’ Bang Records, a local label in San Luis Obispo, Ca. Their first full-length offering was released in the summer of 2013, and the song 86 to Life was featured on a 4-way TNB split 7″ in fall 2013. Twang N Bang Records will release the American Dirt’s second full length album in the Fall of 2014.

Over the span of his 20-year career, Jack Parker has taken his life-long journey through the peaks and valleys, and shaped a musical sound reminiscent of a timeless America. For years, Parker has been the ingenious six-string slinger interpreting other people’s songs from “stage-right” in bands like Tumbledown, and Rocky Point All-Stars, but more recently he has taken center-stage to write, sing, and play his own songs that have an air of rambling down the open road, but ultimately a longing for coming home.
