Freespace Pop-Up Community Center

Freespace is a pop-up community center focused on hacking the civic experience. It is hosted in a 14,000 sqft warehouse in S0Ma, San Francisco, envisioned and implemented entirely by you.

Freespace was originally just a one month project, but it was extended to two months thanks to successful Indiegogo campaign. They’re now open periodically (check their schedule). They host a wide array of events and projects like classes, music, art, silent discos, yoga, a free bikeshare, community engagement and field trips, and more than a few silly costumes.

Canning 101 | Freespace Pop-Up Community Center

Learn about water bath canning and food safety basics from instructor Noelle Olson, a certified volunteer for LA County’s Master Food Preserver Program.

You will learn how to know to safely preserve jam, jellies, chutneys, juices, and vinegar-pickled vegetables.

Common nutrition concerns, such as preserving for low-sugar diets and minimal nutrient loss, will also be covered.
