It is the story of Helena, the daughter of a famed physician, who cures the King of France of a fatal disease and is given the choice of any husband.

She picks Bertram, the count of Rosillion, whom she has secretly loved for years. But when Bertram rejects her, gives her a seemingly impossible series of tasks required to earn his love, and runs away to a foreign war, what can Helena do but follow and persevere?
