Join award-winning Bay Area filmmaker Jeff Giordano for an eclectic mix of 8 complete short documentary and narrative films and two excerpts from his most recent feature films, followed by a Q&A with the director.
Giordano’s films have been showcased at festivals around the world. He also curates films for film festivals, public libraries, and film venues throughout the Bay Area.
Here’s a rundown of the 80-minute program:
Shorts:
- Crossing the Main Street Death Trap (PSA, 2003): Public service announcement about crossing Main Street in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.
- Among Garbage & Flowers (2004, documentary): Two men, one trash truck, and the trash cycle of the universe.
- Marla & Martha (2005, documentary): A portrait of Marla and Martha who make it their mission to care for feral cats that roam a university campus.
- The Tao of Bear Creek (2010, documentary): Fusing the teachings of Taoism with the Bear Creek Preserve in Telluride, Colorado, Erik Nepsky offers profound insights for our existence.
- King David: Part One (2012, documentary): A mysterious glimpse into the present and past lives of David McClain, an ex-gangster from New York City.
- Sutro Wants My Body (2013, fiction): A woman ruminates on the Sutro Bath ruins in San Francisco while thinking aloud about an erotic fantasy and favorite French films.
Feature-film excerpts:
- Long-Distance Runners: A Cross-Cultural Love Story (2014): An autobiographical documentary from home videos, about first love through Australia, Japan, and the USA.
- The Thrill Is Gone (2014): A documentary following Bay Area legend Will “the Thrill” Viharo and his 30-year residency as pulp-noir novelist and movie host (Thrillville).
