2012 Vietnamese Lunar New Year Tet Festival | SFTet Nguyen Dan (also known as the Vietnamese Lunar New Year) is a traditional holiday celebrated annually by the Vietnamese to mark the beginning of both spring and the new lunar year.

Tet is about getting together with family and friends to exchange gifts, share warm wishes, pay respect to each other, pay homage to their ancestors, enjoy good food, share laughter, and partake in many special holiday practices.

The free annual celebration – now in its 16th year for 2012 -  is filled with live cultural entertainment, music, dancesVietnamese celebrity guests/performers, games,  authentic foods, exhibitions, and many other activities.

  • 10:45a Guests arrive at the Little Saigon Gate at corner of Larkin and Eddy Streets.
  • 11a Ribbon cutting ceremony, firecrackers and Lion dancing
  • 11:15a Salute to the Colors, Tribute to the Vietnamese nation’s Ancestors
  • 11:25a Opening remarks by Organizing Committee chairperson, and remarks by guests of honor
  • 11:55a Passing out of lucky red envelopes to children
  • 12:05p Awards Ceremony
  • 12:15p Guests’ tour of Festival premises and booths
  • 12:30p Cultural program starts. Modern and traditional
