Oakland Youth Orchestra Free Performances
The vibrant and award-winning Oakland Youth Orchestra (OYO) consists of 75 talented music students aged 12 to 22 from throughout the region.
The concerts listed below are free and open to the public.
Winter 2016 Program:
- Hailstork American Fanfare
Michael Morgan, conductor- Sibelius Finlandia
(Side-by-side with MUSE VIVO Orchestra)- Borodin Polovtsian Dances
- Beethoven Symphony No.5 in C Minor
Beethoven’s iconic Symphony that changed the course of music history caps off a program of intriguingly iconoclastic works by other composers. Similarly, Borodin used folk dances of his fatherland as evocative inspiration for the exotic closing scene of his opera,Prince Igor.
