$1 Horse Racing Day at Golden Gate Fields | Berkeley

The buzz is all about the Kentucky Derby these days but there’s some pretty exciting horse racing going on real close by—and real cheap too. Every Sunday from now through June 12, nearly every costs just a single buck at Golden Gate Fields in North Berkeley.

Check out out the thoroughbred action at the Fields, a place that’s been hosting horse races since 1941. You don’t have to bet to have fun since there are 8 or 9 races a day (but bets are as low as $2 apiece with bounties of up to about $22).

There’s also live music in between the races. This week it’s pop/soul nine-piece Pride & Joy entertaining.
