Event Details

You’re invited to attend the 100th anniversary celebration of Mt. Davidson Cross on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 11am – 12:30pm at the cross.  We are honored that many public officials, religious leaders, and esteemed guests will be attending this historic, community-wide San Francisco event.

The highlight of the ceremony will be the unearthing of a time capsule that was buried by San Francisco Boy Scout Troop #88 commemorating the first Easter Sunrise Service on April 1, 1923. Following the unearthing, a new time capsule will be placed in the same spot, hopefully to be discovered 100 years from now.

The Council of Armenian-American Organizations of Northern California (CAAONC) has been the legal owner of the Mt. Davidson Cross since 1997, and the landmark currently serves as a memorial to the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide.

In the event of rain, the ceremony will take place inside at St. John’s Armenian Apostolic Church, 275 Olympia Way, SF  (1 mile from the cross)
