‘When Medicine Got It Wrong’ is a documentary film about how a small group of parents in the 1970’s revolutionized the way we view and treat people with schizophrenia. It also reveals the origins of the tragic state of mental health care today in the U.S.
“We failed to understand why parents of a child with leukemia were treated with sympathy and understanding, while parents of a child with schizophrenia were treated with scorn and condemnation” – Eve Oliphant, World Congress of Psychiatry
