Did you that the East Bay played a big part in the silent film movie industry in the early 1900s, Niles (near Fremont) was home to the Essanay Film studio where silents superstars like Charlie Chaplin.
The Essanay Silent Film Museum’s Edison Theater celebrates its 5th anniversary on Saturday with a collection of rare silent films (accompanied by live piano) restored and preserved by Niles Essanay. Also hear a talk about the museum’s evolution and goals.
