12th Annual Earth Day at Shoreway 2023 (San Carlos)

RethinkWaste invites you to join us at our no-cost Earth Day event taking place Saturday, April 29th from 10AM to 2PM!

This no-cost event will include:

• Shoreway Facility Tours: Get a unique, behind-the-scenes look at where your compost, recycling, and landfill items go!
• Book Swap: You are welcome to contribute to our community book swap. Bring a book or two to drop off and grab one in exchange!
• Clothing Swap: Participate in our community clothing swap! Bring clothes you no longer wear in clean, gently-used condition and trade with others.
• Puzzle Swap: Bring your old puzzles to switch them out for “new” ones!
• Raffle Prizes: We will have several different Earth-friendly raffle prizes available for both the morning and afternoon event slots. You must be present to win. Limit one prize per household.
• Trash to Art Contest Winner Recognition: Please join us in honoring the Trash to Art Contest winners. Our Trash to Art Contest is held every year in recognition of Earth Day to inspire 3rd-5th grade students to turn everyday trash and recyclables into art. Registration is required for tours and general admission to the swap. The event will be held rain or shine.

Super Swap

10 AM – 2 PM

Bring your gently used puzzles, books, and clothing to trade with the community! All leftover items will be donated to a local organization or thrift store.

Tours of Shoreway Facility

10:15 AM AND 12:15 PM

Two tours will be offered, providing an inside look at the Materials Recovery Facility and Transfer Station. Tour guides will also review how to sort waste items properly and answer questions from the group.

Tour Requirements:

• Registration (walk-ins will NOT be accepted the day of)
• Face masks
• Minimum age to attend is 8 years old
• Additional requirements and instructions will be shared after tour registration

Limited spots available. Participants must comply with all safety guidelines and COVID-19 policies while on-site, and complete a tour permission form.
