2019 Architecture & the City Festival | SF

The 16th annual month-long celebration features behind the scenes and walking tours, films, exhibitions, lectures and more that address varying aspects of the design and planning process.

This years festival theme, “We the City”, aims to explore how cultural diversity and connectivity inspire and inform the built environment. From the Dogpatch to the Outer Sunset — San Francisco is a unique, diverse, and multi-generational mosaic.

Oyler House, a documentary about a Richard Neutra-designed home in a desert, lets the majesty of the landscape speak for itself and highlights the intimate design process and collaboration that comes with the design of the most private and personal of buildings. Nhu Tien Lu, Regional Manager of the San Francisco StoryBooth at StoryCorps, will briefly introduce StoryCorps and the film, and Joanne Koch, AIA, of Koch Architects, will give a post-talk about Neutra and mid-century modern homes.

The evening will begin with an animated short: Sundays at Rocco’s, (2013) 3 min. Director: Rauch Brothers.
