Event Details

2016 Japanese Theatre Performance | SF

In the 2015/16 Season, Theatre of Yugen will present a two-part presentation series inviting Bay Area artists to create, revive or develop work for a two-night presentation and artists’ engagement event at NOHspace.

Series Presentation #1 will be a staged reading of “A Glass of Water,” in which a mother’s unresolved murder weaves through the coming-of-age of her two sons, Lorenzo and Vito. Each takes a very different path in order to cope with their loss and attempt to achieve the ever-elusive American Dream amid the chili fields and fighting arenas in the Southwestern United States. Written by Freddy Gutierrez, and adapted from a Novel by Jimmy Santiago Baca.

April 1 & 2 – 2016 – 7pm – Nohspace – 2840 Mariposa St, San Francisco, CA 94110
Tickets available at the door on a sliding scale from $5 – $15

Yugen in Action is thematically linked to Theatre of Yugen’s Fall 2016 premiere of The Red Demon, and will use the same motifs of “Immigration & Alienation,” as the starting point for participating artists.
