2020 LaborFest | July 1-30

LaborFest is an annual festival celebrating the history and culture of working people through film, art, lectures, and exhibits all over the Bay Area from July 1-30, 2020.

This year’s theme is Labor: Resist, Revolt, Building A New Future.

LaborFest 2020 takes place in a new world. LaborFest will cover the fight for health and safety on the job and the defense of front-line workers and whistle-blowers who speak out for their health and safety rights.

Because of the limitations on social gatherings, most events will be held virtually through Zoom and other applications; however a few select events will be held in person. The schedule will be subject to change, so please check the website prior to each event. For those events scheduled to use Zoom, you can participate in the discussion by registration.  If you wish to participate in discussions, please sign-up when the information is uploaded to the website.

2020 LaborFest | July 1-30

This walk will explore the “New Deal nexus” in Berkeley that includes Berkeley High School, the Community Theater, Civic Center Park, Post Office art, the old UC Press Building (now being repurposed as the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive), and the old Farm Credit Building. The tour will also include the incredible mosaic mural on the UC Berkeley campus, photographs of the California Folk Music Project, Western Museum Laboratory, WPA prints at the Berkeley Public Library, and WPA projects on the UC Berkeley campus.
